Services

If it has a frame and fabric, I can probably help. These are the jobs I do most.

Antique and traditional chairs

Sprung seats, horsehair stuffing and deep buttoning, rebuilt by hand using traditional materials.

Sofas and armchairs

New covers, new foam and repaired springs for modern furniture that has gone flat or worn through.

Dining chairs

Drop-in seats and fully upholstered chairs, from a single chair to a full set.

Headboards and window seats

Made to measure, in the fabric you choose.

Pubs, hotels and restaurants

Banquettes and booth seating in contract-grade fabric.

Boats and caravans

Replacement cushions and foam, cut to fit.

What the work involves

I strip each piece back to find out what’s sound. Loose frame joints get repaired, sagging webbing gets replaced, and springs are checked and re-tied. Worn stuffing or foam is renewed before the new cover goes on, so the finished piece sits properly as well as looking right.

Common questions

Is my furniture worth re-upholstering?

If the frame is solid, usually yes. Send me a photo and I’ll tell you honestly.

Can I supply my own fabric?

Yes. Check with me before you buy so I can work out how much you need and whether it suits the piece.

How long does it take?

It depends on the job and what else is in the workshop. I’ll give you a date with your quote.

Do you collect and deliver?

Yes, by arrangement. Give me your postcode when you ask for a quote.

Do your fabrics meet fire regulations?

Furniture for UK homes has to meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, and that covers re-upholstery work. Furniture made before 1950 is outside the regulations. I’ll tell you what applies to your piece and which fabrics are suitable.
